More on Thursday's Meeting
Mar. 24th, 2018 02:03 pmHi all. I forgot to post the rest of Thursday's entry, because I got a bit lazy and because I had to go somewhere with one of my tutors. So I'm back here to talk about what went on. My mother and I ended up having a shorter meeting than first we had planned on, but it was productive nonetheless. I got to try out the guy's iPhone. He showed me a few of the gestures, and they turned out to be pretty easy for me. He had both Siri and VoiceOver talking, so it was very helpful. He explained some things about the iPhone, and gave us some very good tips. So the next step is to shop around, and then I think I'll make an appointment with one of the technology tutors at Second Sense. I'll probably also listen to some of the podcasts and of course check out the forums and blog over at AppleVis.
After the meeting my mom and I headed for lunch since we were both hungry. We settled on a restaurant which is part of Misericordia, a local organization which works with people who have disabilities. My mom recommended it, and it ended up being the perfect choice. Immediately upon being seated, I thought I heard a familiar voice coming from directly behind me. The restaurant was pretty packed at the time, so I couldn't be certain of this. But then the person came over to our table and talked with us. It turned out to be a young man whom I had met through Center for Independent Futures. Unfortunately he is not involved with CIF anymore, but he ended up being our server at the restaurant. I'm happy to report that he did a wonderful job, and our food was very good. Then to top it all off, my mother bought me an item from the bakery that is also part of Misericordia. I had the item for dessert last evening, and it was quite yummy. It was great catching up with that buddy of mine.
