Well folks, we did it! I honestly didn't think we could defeat Donald Trump and his partners-in-crime, but somehow we managed in the end. And now, let me introduce y'all to President Elect Joe Biden, and Vice-President Elect Kamala Harris. Or should that be re-introduce you to Joe Biden? I think that's a bit more accurate, since he served already as this country's Vice-President under the Obamas. Today is a day that will certainly go down in history for more reasons than one. I found out this morning that Joe and Kamala had won, and then a neighbor and I went out back to watch everybody pass by and honk their horns in celebration. We thought there was a reason behind all that victory noise, and this was it. I have to say that I'm very impressed with the way it was handled, taking into consideration the pandemic. He and I watched their speeches last night, and they did a wonderful job.
I honestly don't remember much about Joe Biden's previous 8 years in the White House, since I wasn't that much into politics back then. But one thing I remember clearly is being able to cast my ballot secretly and independently back in 2008, when Barack Obama won the election. I also remember walking with a now former neighbor to a local Starbucks, and her screams of joy out on our deck when it was announced that he was the winner. I also remember that Joe and Barack had to work with a mostly? Republican Congress so very little could get done. But there were some things accomplished, such as the 21st Century Communications and Video Accessibility Act and the Affordable Care Act, a.k.a., Obamacare. But at some point I'm hoping to go back and check out more things.
But today was very nice, and here's hoping things go smoothly and that Biden and Harris actually get inaugurated without a hitch. As far as the Don and his partners-in-crime go, fuck them! I hope very bad things happen to them. Perhaps they'll all come down with a bad case of COVID-19.
