Hi everyone. Thought I'd relate an experience that I had recently with Microsoft Soundscape, a free iPhone app which I think was just recently released. I needed to go to one of the branches of my local public library to purchase a ticket for a big event next week which I'm attending along with 2 neighbors. So I thought I'd do that yesterday morning. Monday is also my day to do laundry, so I figured I'd start that and then take a walk. I got up early yesterday morning to start packing for the holiday break, and went down with my load of laundry. I got it started, and then took my wonderful iPhone 7 out of my coat pocket. I then opened up the settings app to turn on Location Services, because I had been informed previously by Soundscape that those services needed to be on in order for it to do its thing. I also turned on Blue-Tooth. I then set Autolock to Never, went into Soundscape, and put the phone back in my pocket and zipped it up. I went back outside, grabbed my cane, and off I went. The library branch that I needed is within walking distance of my apartment complex, and fortunately for me there is no street crossing. I'm not terribly keen on street crossings. Even quiet ones can be a bit problematic for me at times. So I walked back out the gate, hung an immediate right, and took the phone back out of my pocket so that I could better hear the app above all the traffic. Thinking back on the whole event I probably could've brought along my earbuds, but they were tucked away in my bedroom at the time and I needed to make the purchase before the library closed for the day. I walked along the row of buildings, using my cane of course. Within only a few minutes I arrived at what I thought was the south branch of the library. All of a sudden somebody called out and asked if I needed assistance. I told her I needed the library, and it turned out I was there. So she opened the door and I went in. I asked if she worked there and she said yes, and helped me up to the front desk where she and another librarian helped me purchase the ticket. I of course had my wallet with me, and took out a $20 bill which was already folded. They handed me the ticket and I paid for it, and then put my things back in my coat and zipped it up. They then escorted me back outside, and I came back to my apartment.
Throughout this entire experience, Microsoft Soundscape played a knocking sound and chimes. I don't think Callouts were enabled, but I'm going to check that out later. However, this was a great experience and I love the app. It does exactly what the description says, and is very affordable. Thank you Microsoft for this app. It has really enriched my life, as well as the lives of many others.
