Look Who's Back!
Aug. 27th, 2021 07:21 amIt's me! Yup, I'm back from my mini-vacation. It ended up being a little bit longer than anticipated, but I enjoyed myself nonetheless. What's more, I kept in touch with my building mates and a few other Center for Independent Futures people. I'll have a bit more to say about CIF later in this entry, so stay tuned for that.
I returned to my apartment on Sunday, and was immediately greeted by my neighbor across the hall and my tutor. There are now some vents in my ceiling, as well as a furnace for the heat. I'm told that the central heating will be activated later this year, probably when it gets to the appropriate temperature outdoors. But I think we have a ways to go in order for that to happen. The central AC isn't going to be available until next summer. We may in fact end up with a surprise in this regard, but only time will tell. A new ceiling fan was installed in my bedroom, and it has a remote-control which somebody graciously labeled in Braille. I have used the fan a bit, and it works well. For the time being, I'm still using my window AC units and so are my building mates. But I'm looking forward to the other new stuff here.
Speaking of new stuff, Center for Independent Futures now has its 3rd executive director. The announcement that he had been hired and accepted the position was made just a few days ago. He is one of the people I helped to interview for the position. I cannot and will not speak for anybody else, but I think he is well-qualified and will be a very good executive director just as his predecessors were. He starts his duties next week.
In other news...a sister and I received our booster shots this week at one of our area grocery stores. She got the Moderna booster, and I got Pfizer. I did feel rather achy and fatigued for awhile afterwards, but as with the first 2 shots it was not bad at all and I cannot understand all this vaccine refusal. But don't get me started on that, otherwise I'll be here all day and time is a precious commodity. For now I'll just say this once again. If ya have yet to be fully or even partially vaccinated against this deadly virus, they're calling your names loud and clear! Thanks for reading/commenting, and as always please be safe and sound.
