Jul. 7th, 2022 09:17 pmHi folks. I am once again coming to y'all a bit early this week, because I want to do more coursework during the free time I have tomorrow, which most likely will not be that much. But anyway, I hope life has been treating everyone well. It's certainly treated me well.
The online courses are going great. I doubt I'll be taking anything else from the Radical Compassion Institute, only because I probably cannot afford their paid courses at this time. But I'm almost ready for my second certificate from them and will post that right here. As previously mentioned, meditation might not be something which I'll ever need but who knows? They say it is good for everybody, so I just might keep it going. The 2 course instructors have done a fabulous job of breaking everything down into segments. These instructors are also very aware and supportive of diverse needs, and that is reflected in their teaching style. The other place from which I'm taking courses is Open University, and thus far I'm enjoying it. Accessibility with my screen reader seems to be quite good, and this first course is very interesting.
I hope and pray that the Fourth of July was safe for others. I spent the day at my parents' place, and we had a neighbor of mine over. We of course could not avoid the tragic and terrible news of the mass shooting which occurred in a nearby suburb. I honestly cannot help but wonder if this great country in which I live will ever learn its lesson regarding guns and the like. It's a question that I know others have pondered for a long time, and I hope and pray a viable solution will come eventually. Gun laws absolutely need to change, and then we might start to see an improvement. I for one, do not carry a gun and have never done so. I've had toy guns, but depending on who you speak to that is a different can of worms. What we need to do is to vote those jerks out of office who are so stubborn and pig-headed as to think nothing needs to change in this regard. That's all I'll say on the matter, and that's all for this entry. As always, please take good care and stay safe out there.

I doubt it. Starting with the fact that the problem isn't guns but rather people who think violence is a good way to solve problems. That's a popular view in America, and getting rid of it would involve changing society in ways people don't wish to do. Take away guns, and A) crime will become a much safer career, and B) violent people will find other ways of expressing their hatred. Like say, driving cars into crowds, and America literally does not have the infrastructure to take away cars and still function. In India, acid is a preferred method. Much of the Middle East goes for improvised bombs, also becoming popular in America.
For people wishing to undermine gun violence and other violence, I made this post a while back with practical tactics.
