Jun. 9th, 2023 06:56 amHi everyone and welcome to June. Last week got rather busy once again, and I'm afraid this entry will have to be somewhat brief as well. But that's just the way the cookie crumbles sometimes, isn't it? Anyway...on with the show.
This week has been good for me as usual for the most part. I and my building mates found out that one of them tested positive for COVID-19. But this was a different one. So the rest of us had to get tested too, and the good news is that we tested negative. The other good news is that the neighbor in question has been isolating as per CDC guidelines, and last I checked she is doing well. That was last night. If she hasn't gotten tested again already, I've no doubt that will happen very soon. But we all have masks and of course are going to continue doing everything necessary in order to prevent further things like this. The bad news is that the event which was scheduled for this weekend has been postponed, but we're in the process of figuring out another date. In addition I thought I'd have to cancel my dermatology appointment earlier this week, but the appointment went ahead as scheduled. I of course wore a mask, and everybody in the office was masked as well.
I started a series of Braille workshops from the Hadley Institute for the Blind and Visually Impaired, in an effort to better familiarize myself with my eReader. This first workshop was a breeze. It introduced the letters "A", "b", and "c" which I of course have known for ages. I learned Braille as a child, so therefore was able to fly through the workshop and have revised my plan a bit. I am going to skip over the rest of the alphabet and numbers, and focus on the stuff that was introduced in the updated Braille code that was rolled out a few years ago. I have been unable to get a straightforward answer thus far as to exactly when the new code came out, but it was sometime within the past few years. Anyways, I'm going to take some other stuff from Hadley again. I'm happy to report that their website/curriculum overhaul was a success in my books.
Well everyone...you've managed to make it through another Friday entry of mine and I thank you for that. It might not be that brief after all, but who's counting? Have a good one, and we'll talk again next week. Stay safe out there as always, and as the editor of a newsletter to which I'm subscribed says, "wash your damn hands!"
