First iPhone Tutoring Session
May. 5th, 2018 08:42 amHi everyone. So, Thursday was my first tutoring session at Second Sense here in Chicago. My father picked me up here at my apartment, and we drove down there. We got a bit lost along the way, but that was remedied right away and we eventually entered their building. We met with Marv, one of the technology tutors, and I told him what I had done up to that point with the iPhone. He then showed me some more gestures, and changed a few settings so that the phone would be easier for me to use. He was very professional and courteous, and I am scheduled to go back next week and work with him. Then my father dropped me off again here at my place.
I have been practicing everything Marv showed me, plus exploring a couple other things on the phone. I've also been checking out the iOS resources on the mighty AppleVis. Not surprisingly, they have some excellent ones. I think I'm already becoming addicted to my iPhone, despite only knowing a few things about it. Some might say that I've not even scratched the surface. I suppose that would be a true statement. I've made and received a few calls on it though, and the sound quality is amazing. I honestly never would've thought I'd be saying this about a rectangular device that resembles a small picture frame or candy bar without nuts, but it seems Apple has really done a lot to make these things usable by a large population. One thing which I'm really looking forward to trying out is the GPS functionality. I've never had the good fortune to try out GPS systems, but I am somewhat familiar with the whole concept. Please see a previous entry of mine. I'm also glad to know that these things actually do have talking caller ID at least when the mighty VoiceOver is turned on. I know I'm far from alone in saying this, but I've gotten numerous solicitation calls on both my phones. My land-line phone also has built-in talking caller ID. I will definitely post here again about my progress with the iPhone so stay tuned.
