I was born with only light perception, and am fascinated by computers and assistive technology. I also love prank phone calls: not so much making them anymore or receiving them but listening to them. I've been involved with a nonprofit organization for 12 years called Center for Independent Futures. Please see the first website linked to here in my profile for more information about this great organization, or click on the "Center for Independent Futures" link located near the bottom of every entry page. Note to screen reader users: Clicking this link will take you to a page which might only announce itself as "Home," depending on which screen reader is in use. This is definitely true of both VoiceOver and Chromevox Classic. However, this is indeed the correct website. DISCLAIMER NUMBER 2: Some entries on this site may contain adult material. Those entries will be marked with a link indicating such material. I cannot and will not be held responsible for damages incurred by reading and/or commenting on these entries, unless said damages are the result of non-working links. This content-rating link has been put there as a cautionary measure, so please proceed at your own risk. DISCLAIMER NUMBER 1: This site may contain links to websites which are in no way affiliated with Dreamwidth Studios, LLC. Therefore, I cannot--and will not--be held responsible for the accessibility and/or usability of said websites. Should you wish to sue me because of this, please think again. I am on a limited income, and don't wish to be sued. Nor do I wish for anybody else to be sued, unless they really do deserve it for whatever reason. But, I have tried my very best to only link to external websites that are accessible and usable. That said, I thank each and every one of you for stopping by and hope you enjoy your stay! One more thing: please feel free to follow me on Twitter, Facebook, and/or Archive of our Own. Yes indeed, Fb is becoming more accessible at least on the Mac and hopefully on other platforms as well. I'm also on Goodreads and you can follow me there, but I haven't done much on there yet. Just point your favorite browser to . In addition feel free to use the not-so-old email trick when contacting me. Simply send those requests, problem reports etc. to or . Copy/paste into your email program if necessary. I'm trying to get a private-messaging mechanism set up on here for everybody, but for now the afore-mentioned means of contacting me will have to do. I admittedly haven't been great about updating this journal as of late due to time constraints, but my hope is that this will change in the very near future. I'm one of those people who likes to tinker around with all the latest cool technology, provided said technology is accessible with screen readers. Technology should be more accessible than that, but I'm only a screen reader user.

People have often said to me: "How are you," or some variation thereof. The following banner will take you to a website that answers this very question. Please feel free to try out this tactic on the next person you meet on the street: The current mood of Jake_42 at . Do this at your own risk though please.
